Vulcan VSL Vulcoder Onboard Scale J-Box
Signal conversion box from the Vulcan loadcells to scale display in the vehicles cab. Your onboard scale system cannot properly operate without these
These orange boxes are found mounted to the vehicle frame rails or chassis and serve to boost the analog loadcell signal to a proprietary Vulcan "VSL" digital weight signal. This digital signal is less prone to interference from moisture, Radio Frequencies or loose connectors making it ideal to travel the longer distances required up to the drivers cab of the vehicle.
The analog portion of the signal is carried on the black wires with the typically 4 pin connectors that would plug into the shear beams or loadcells in the vehicles suspension or mounted between the log bunks for log trucks and trailers.
The orange cable has two conductors, a white and a green which carries both the power to run the circuitry and the data signal with the weight information back up to the display for the driver.
The last Vulcoder at the back of the vehicle would leave the small black looping wire intact and connected which tells the display that it is the last vulcoder in the sequence. Any vulcoders between the display in the cab and this last vulcoder would need to snip or cut that small black looping wire and would have to be properly sequenced into the system when initally setting up your system.
When calibrating your onboard scale system the vehicles calibration data is stored within the Vulcoder so that you can drop and pickup a new trailer and not have to recalibrate every time.
